Longtime Holladay Teacher Has a Passion for Performing Arts

Ms. Draper demonstrates dance moves for some of her students.

Passion is a key aspect of performing arts, and longtime Holladay Magnet Elementary School teacher Jennifer Draper has plenty of it!

Ms. Draper has been working full-time at Holladay since 1998, when she took over the role of performing arts teacher. She brought her years of experience in the arts, including teaching at a dance studio in college. She now teaches music and theater to K-5 students in the Arts Center that was unveiled during Holladay's recent renovation project. Now students have a dedicated dance studio/performance space as well as a keyboard lab.

What's the best part of her job? Ms. Draper says she loves seeing students open up and perform when they get up on stage.

Right now, Ms. Draper's 5th graders are putting the finishing touches on their musical, "Seussical Jr.," which they will perform on November 30. The other grades will be performing their holiday shows in the coming weeks.
