Planning Services - Intergovernmental Agreements

Tucson Unified School District has entered into Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) for the use of many of our school sites and facilities. These IGAs open up school grounds for community use and provide for a cooperative approach to maintenance and construction. This shared use of our school facilities provides benefits to the district and to the community.

This IGA refers to the recreation areas shown in Attachment A all other areas are closed to the public and are the responsibility of TUSD.					SIS = school in session (from the opening of school in August to the close of school in May)

Use of facilities:
Swimming Pool When school is in session, public use Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. When school is not in session, public use is at all open times; however, City and TUSD will continue to coordinate their schedules to permit school use of the swimming pool. Other Recreation Areas While school is in session, public use is from 6:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.; Public use of the football field lights requires a TUSD Rental Agreement. Public vehicular access to the school grounds is prohibited. Use of electrical night lights on track and softball fields only from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. - August to May.

Swimming Pool		Always Always	City shall pay all costs related to pool equipment and mechanical maintenance. Telephone and related costs, chemical costs, starting blocks, windscreen, lane lines.
Utilities	Always Always Always	Always Always Always Always Always Always	TUSD shall pay for electricity to outdoor basketball courts. TUSD shall pay for electricity, natural gas and water to swimming pool. TUSD shall pay for new electrical night lighting improvements around existing running track at all times. All not specifically covered by the City. City shall pay for all utilities to in-line skate area. City shall pay for all electrical to the Phase III areas (all baseball and softball fields). City shall pay for pool – telephone. City shall pay for new electrical night lighting improvements at varsity softball field at all times.
Communication/Coordination			If any construction is to occur, TUSD will notify the City in writing forty-five (45) days prior to the work commencing. Tennis court resurfacing schedules shall be supplied by TUSD to City for public notification. Notification of spraying will be given to TUSD 72 hours in advance. TUSD will provide City with the school sports schedule on January 1 and May 1; City will develop master schedule. During the school year, all City work will be completed when TUSD staff is on duty. Emergency call numbers will be provided by each agency.

Cavett Elementary School
