Gridley Middle School Awarded $50,000 Adaptive Sports Grant

Gridley Middle School students participate in a wheelchair basketball game, thanks to a generous $50,000 grant from the Hartford.

Gridley Middle School is the recipient of a $50,000 grant from the Hartford to fund the upcoming Adaptive Sports and Inclusive Recreation in Schools (ASIRIS) program.

As the first school to participate in this program, Gridley students learned about and engaged in wheelchair basketball. The grant money was used to purchase new wheelchairs for three players. Gridley's basketball team also had the chance to play in a scrimmage with players from the Arizona Storm and Tucson Lobos wheelchair basketball teams, under the guidance of Councilman Paul Cunningham.

Thank you to the Hartford, Move United and Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports for supporting our students!
