Tucson Village Farm Honors Retired TUSD Teacher and Coach

Retired teacher and coach John Brooks was honored for his service to Tucson Unified students.

Tucson Village Farm recently honored Tucson Unified's John Brooks, a retired original Sabino teacher and coach.

A Tucson native and himself a product of TUSD, John Brooks began his lengthy teaching career at Tucson High School before joining Sabino’s faculty in 1972, where he remained for 25 years, teaching Environmental Biology, Desert Ecology, and Chemistry. John also served as Sabino’s first cross country coach and was the advisor for Sabino’s first environmental club, Ecologic. After retiring from Sabino, John continued teaching science classes for TUSD elementary schools for another six years.

When John eventually retired entirely from an exemplary teaching career, it is estimated that he had taught over 10,000 students and had touched the lives of countless others as a coach and advisor.
