Welcoming Our New International Teachers

We are excited to share with you some fun facts about our new international teachers who have joined the Exceptional Education team! They hail from Suryapet (India), Panabo City (Philippines), and Zimbabwe (Africa) just to name a few places. They have come to Tucson to have a positive impact on the special education programs right here in the desert.

The new Exceptional Ed international teachers smile at a restaurant table. Some of the new teachers support resource students while others support some of our self-contained programs. We are elated to have them join us and bring their knowledge from across the globe. These educators have experience with gifted and talented, autism, mild/moderate intellectual disabilities, hearing impairment and learning disabilities.

These teachers bring so much to our schools besides the obvious cultural perspective and sensitivity. They share their talents and knowledge, teach creative lessons, build positive trusting relationships with staff, students, and families alike, and put their best foot forward on a daily basis. They are eager to learn about new ways of teaching and deepening their knowledge of special education and that oh so important piece – paperwork! If you have a new international teacher at your school, please embrace them. They are fun, extremely gracious and did I say FUN! If you are lucky, you may even get to enjoy some lumpia or other fabulous cuisine from their home country.

The Exceptional Education Department wants to simply say welcome. We are here to support and celebrate all our international teachers!
