Spot-On Award Celebrates TUSD Speech Clinicians

Spot-On is an internal TUSD recognition award utilized by the Speech Clinician group to recognize and celebrate exceptional Speech Clinicians. The Spot-On Award for February 2024 was awarded to two Speech Clinicians. Sisters Holly Barroero and Krista Worden were nominated for the time, energy, and expertise they provided to update the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Professional Corner on the Ex Ed SharePoint website.

Holly’s principal shared, “Holly is such a joy to have on the Tolson campus. Her demeanor during the workday is uplifting and motivational. She's committed to our kids and does it with a constant smile. We are lucky to have her.” Holly’s most recent endeavor includes creating an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Classroom at her preschool at Tolson Elementary School. The staff model and include AAC strategies to foster an inclusive and communicative environment for everyone.

Krista is always optimistic, helpful, and resourceful. She provides trainings to her staff at Grijalva Elementary School, she has provided professional development to her fellow SLP colleagues, and she is always available to support new clinicians. Fun fact: Arizona Speech-Language-Hearing Association
(ArSHA) selected Krista’s design and incorporated it into merchandise, including the ArSHA Tote Bag that Spot-On recipients receive! Thank you for sharing your talents with us, Krista and Holly!
