Saludos cordiales
I want to start by introducing myself. I am Mario Aguilar Buenrostro, a Program Specialist in College and Career Readiness within the Mexican American Students Services Department. I invite you to explore our website, utilize our resources, and check my availability to schedule an appointment using this link. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. My goal is to be of assistance to you and, together, find the best way to support you.
Let me share a little about myself. I was born in La Manzanilla de la Paz, a rural town two hours from Guadalajara, Jalisco. As a family, we (im)migrated to Yakima County, Washington. As an immigrant farmworker, after graduating from high school, the systemic oppression that structured my community forced me to continue working in agriculture. Therefore, instead of enrolling in college, I continued as an agricultural worker. After two years of hard work, I enrolled in a community college. As a first-generation student, my journey has been challenging and at times lonely. My path has been long, with many pauses, but I am now on the verge of earning my PhD in the Department of Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona, where I also earned my master's degree. My bachelor's degree is in Sociology and Criminal Justice.
Thank you very much for your attention and your time!
Saludos cordiales,
